Temiskaming Thunder Youth League - Spring Waitlist Entries

Introductory program for young athletes to develop fundamental basketball skills and develop a love for the game. Our upcoming 7-week spring session will be held at Timiskaming District Secondary School and is open to boys and girls from Grade 1 to Grade 8.  Sessions will be conducted every Tuesday or Wednesday evening depending on your age group, commencing on the first week of April and concluding on the second weekend of May. 

Youth League Session Break Down by Age Groups:

• Grade 1 - Grade 2  -  Wednesdays at 5:45PM - 6:45PM
• Grade 3 - Grade 4  - Wednesdays at 7:00PM - 8:00PM
• Grade 5 - Grade 6  -  Tuesdays at 5:45PM - 6:45PM
• Grade 7 - Grade 8  - Tuesdays at 7:00PM - 8:00PM

Welcome to the Temiskaming Thunder Youth League Basketball program, which is carefully designed to cater to players of all skill levels, from beginners taking their first steps on the court to young athletes looking to hone their talents further. At Temiskaming Thunder, we believe in instilling a passion for the game, emphasizing skill development, teamwork, and a positive attitude.  Led by our dedicated and experienced coaches, our youth league offers a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment for every participant. We understand that this is a crucial age for young players, and we aim to make their basketball experience enjoyable and fulfilling.

Our coaches are not just focused on teaching basketball skills; they also emphasize the values of sportsmanship, respect, and teamwork, setting a strong foundation for the personal growth of each child.  The program is structured to focus on skill development but we will also be playing games. Allowing players to work on their individual skills, from dribbling and shooting to passing and defense, while also learning valuable team concepts. Our fun and engaging games offer the perfect platform for players to showcase their progress, boost their confidence, and develop healthy competition.

As part of our commitment to providing the best basketball experience, we are excited to announce that we will be including Jr. NBA programming in our youth league curriculum. This addition allows young athletes to benefit from the resources and development curriculum provided by the NBA, inspiring them to dream big and aim high in their basketball aspirations.

Future Youth League Programming

We will be hosting Youth League Programming twice a year; once in the fall at EHS and again in the spring at TDSS. These 1-hour sessions take place once a week over a 6-7-week period. It is open for girls and boys in Grades 1 - Grade 8.

NOTE: if there is a snow day or the school is closed due to inclement weather the session will be cancelled.
