Rep Basketball Eligibility and Requirements

Rep basketball is an exciting and challenging level of play that pushes athletes to reach their full potential. Our teams compete at local, regional, and provincial levels, allowing our players to measure their skills against some of the most talented young athletes in the region. Our annual tryouts are the gateway to becoming a part of the elite Temiskaming Thunder rep basketball teams. The tryout process is designed to identify players who possess the talent, dedication, and potential to represent our club at the highest level. During tryouts, athletes showcase their basketball skills through various drills, scrimmages, and assessments. Our experienced coaching staff closely evaluates each player's performance, looking for not only technical abilities but also a positive attitude, coachability, and a strong work ethic.

2. Cost and Funding
It's important to note that there are fees associated with becoming a Temiskaming Thunder rep player. These fees, which typically range from $500 to $650 per athlete per season, contribute to various expenses such as league fees, tournament registrations, and equipment. However, we strive to keep these costs as reasonable as possible to ensure that basketball remains accessible to all passionate players.
At Temiskaming Thunder, we believe that every aspiring athlete should have an equal opportunity to pursue their passion for basketball, regardless of financial constraints. We understand that the cost of joining a rep team can be a concern for some families, and that's why we are committed to providing financial assistance options to help deserving players be part of our inclusive and supportive basketball community.
To make our program more accessible to a wider range of athletes, we have taken the initiative to host practices in both Englehart and New Liskeard. This ensures that players from different locations have the opportunity to participate and benefit from our top-notch basketball program.

KidSport Individual Child Grant

KidSport provides grants to kids from families facing financial barriers so they can participate in registered sport programs and experience the lifelong benefits of a season of sport. KidSport Ontario provides grants of up to $250 per eligible kid, per year (January 1st – December 31st) towards sport registration fees.

Committed to helping all families access a range of activities, from boxing to bowling and skating to skiing, and more. Children must fall between the ages of 4 - 18 years old. The annual maximum amount a child is eligible to receive is up to $600, subject to Chapter discretion and/or local demands. The maximum amount of funding per application is $300
