Rep Basketball Eligibility and Requirements

Join The Thunder Rep Team

Welcome to the exciting world of Temiskaming Thunder! As a dynamic and inclusive basketball program, we are dedicated to fostering a passion for the game, building strong athletes, and promoting personal growth in the Temiskaming region.

At Temiskaming Thunder, we pride ourselves on fostering a competitive environment that brings out the best in our players. Rep basketball is an exciting and challenging level of play that pushes athletes to reach their full potential. Our teams compete at local, regional, and provincial levels, allowing our players to measure their skills against some of the most talented young athletes in the region. The competitive nature of rep basketball encourages our players to elevate their game, set higher goals, and continuously improve. We believe that healthy competition is a driving force for growth and development, and it teaches valuable life skills such as resilience, determination, and teamwork.

Our annual tryouts are the gateway to becoming a part of the elite Temiskaming Thunder rep basketball teams. The tryout process is designed to identify players who possess the talent, dedication, and potential to represent our club at the highest level. During tryouts, athletes showcase their basketball skills through various drills, scrimmages, and assessments. Our experienced coaching staff closely evaluates each player's performance, looking for not only technical abilities but also a positive attitude, coachability, and a strong work ethic.

2. Cost and Funding

At Temiskaming Thunder, we understand the cost of rep basketball can be a significant consideration for families. Our registration fees, typically ranging from $500 to $650 per athlete per season, cover league fees, tournament registrations, and equipment. Thanks to generous community sponsorships, our fees remain lower than many other Ontario Basketball Association (OBA) teams, reflecting our commitment to keeping basketball accessible.

It is also important to note that there are additional costs, such as travel, accommodations, and meals during away games, that will arise. While not included in the registration fee, we strive to provide upfront information to help families plan. To further support players, we connect families with external financial assistance programs and encourage those in need to contact us for guidance. Links to these resources are available on our website.

To make our program more accessible, we host practices in both Englehart and New Liskeard, ensuring players from across the region can participate. At Temiskaming Thunder, we believe every athlete deserves the opportunity to pursue their passion for basketball, regardless of financial constraints, and we remain committed to making that vision a reality.
