What Is an OBA Basketball Club?

An OBA basketball club is a member organization affiliated with the Ontario Basketball Association (OBA), the provincial governing body for basketball in Ontario.

Ontario Basketball supports the development of basketball across the province through affiliated clubs, coaching education, athlete development, and organized competition.

OBA-affiliated competitive clubs provide opportunities for athletes to participate in basketball beyond recreational programming, including competitive league games, exhibition games, tournaments, and eligible provincial championships.

Temiskaming Thunder is proud to be part of Ontario's affiliated basketball club community, helping make organized competitive basketball more accessible to families in Northern Ontario.

Competitive OBA Rep Basketball in Northern Ontario

Temiskaming Thunder's rep basketball program is designed for athletes who are ready for a more competitive level of play.

Unlike recreational or house league basketball, rep basketball involves team selection through tryouts, structured practices, travel to games and tournaments, and an increased expectation of commitment from athletes and families.

Our coaches focus on developing well-rounded basketball players through:

  • Basketball fundamentals and technical skill development

  • Offensive and defensive concepts

  • Teamwork, communication, and leadership

  • Basketball IQ and decision-making

  • Accountability, coachability, and consistent effort

  • Competitive game experience and long-term athlete development

  •

Rep basketball is a competitive environment, and playing time is not guaranteed or distributed equally. Coaches make decisions based on the needs of the team, individual readiness, effort, attendance, and game situations.

Our goal is to prepare athletes to compete confidently while building the habits, skills, and character that extend beyond basketball.
